Cell phone photos of Ka La Ref. 10111

I took a couple of photos with my cell phone as I was packing a customer watch to be shipped today. I think they came out surprisingly well (except for the overly red color balance that made my fingers pretty darn pink looking).

Wolf Designs - watch wider sale

Wolf Designs is extending their holiday sale and they have an excellent 2 watch winder on sale. Normally $450, you can pick one up for only $150 if you hurry.

I have 2 of these units and they are great. Very, very quiet, well made (not plasticly like some competitor's units) and the locking cuff system is the way to go for securing your watch in a winder. That's only $75 per watch for a top notch winder system. Highly recommended!

On Ariel Adams' Wrist

Here is a photo sent to me by Ariel Adams of A Blog To Watch showing him wearing a Ka La reference 10111 on a blue alligator strap in Miami, Florida.

I'm guessing from the grainy quality that this was a cell phone photo, but who knows...

Hawaiian Koa Wood Boxes

I received my first shipment of production Hawaiian Koa Wood boxes today which are hand made items crafted by Dellera's  Woodworks of Honolulu.

These will be upgrade items ($100) for Ka La watches from Individual Design.

Bella, our quality inspector, is having a look.

Changing a watch band using a springbar tool

Here is a short (just under 3 minutes) video showing how to change a watch band using a springbar tool. And the easy way to close a butterfly deployment buckle (clasp).

Then and now

Below is a render which appeared on the first post in this blog. Below it is a recent photo of a  Ka La Reference 10311 watch. As you can see, the final product looks very much like the original design.

Customer photos

The owners of the first two Ka La Reference 10222 watches got together today in Los Angeles along with another friend and fellow BMW M6 owner.

Here are some photos they took of their watches and one of the three Patron d'origine Hawaiina Koa wood boxes (with deerskin leather pouch) in which these pre-order watches were delivered. Milton actually brought the box and pouch from Louisiana just for this photo shoot!

Sharp eyes will notice that the watches are on different time zones (Central and Pacific) in the photos.

Thanks Milton, Mike and Al...

All 12 references of the Ka La watch are now in stock and available for sale. Below is a quick shot showing each of the references together. Over the weekend, I will photograph them individually and replace the remaining render images on IndividualDesign.com with photos.

Selected samples will be sent to Ariel Adams of aBlogtoRead.com for review. Also, starting on Monday, October 1st, we will be advertising on aBlogtoRead.com.

The final of my three pre-order watches has been received by the customer in Greece. The first indication of receipt was:

"GOT IT !!!"

I then asked, "AND??? What do you think?"

His reply was (and I quote):

Ka La GMT

I ordered an ETA 2893-2 movement. This has a 24 hour hand in addition to the regular "3 hands" plus date of the ETA 2982-2. It is the same diameter as the ETA 2824-2 that I use in my Ka La watches and it "should" fit into the case. As an experiment, we will see if this is the case or not.

I have designed a dial to make use of its 24 hour capability. The hands are a bit provisional in the render below. The idea will be to use lots of lume or perhaps Trigalights (tritium gas tubes).

Wolf Design / A Blog To Read watch winder

I received my limited edition "A Blog to Read" watch winder from Wolf Design. When they say it's quiet, they aren't kidding. It's silent!

The photos show the "aBlogtoRead.com" embossing on the face of the winder and the assortment of international electrical plugs that snap into the "wall wart" end of the power cord.
